Marc studied acting with the legendary William Reynolds (yes....that one) and starred in many off Broadway (Levittown) semi-professional (high school) reproductions of famous musicals. He received rave reviews (his mom) and many awards (ice cream after the show) for his efforts. When he was 19 years old he traveled to mountains of Tibet to practice meditation and memorize the complete works of Shakespeare, Ibsen and Chekov but instead, due to heavy drinking, he only learned 12 new "Your momma's so fat" jokes.
When he returned home he still tried to persue his acting career. Applying for a full scholarship to Julliard, he felt his path was clear. Unfortunately, as many of us know, paths sometimes have detours. Dr. Waldman blames his current career in Podiatry to a mix up at the Bursars office, but he still made the best of a bad situation. Although currently a world renowned Podiatrist, he has never lost sight of his acting roots. Stardom seems to be a series of near misses for Dr. Waldman. He felt he was perfect for the role of "Chachi" in the ABC comedy "Joanie Loves Chachi" but the producers went with the actor who originated the role. He auditioned for the role of Lamont in Sanford and Son and was to star in the After School Special entitled: "Hank and his Crabs" but funding was lost for the project. Although down on his acting luck, fate was around the corner. In the summer of 2007, childhood friend and film director Michael Castro told him about a project he was working on which would really test his acting abilities. A juicy role that would require him to dig up every acting skill he had from the core of his soul. He would play a Podiatrist! Ok, it wasn't a big stretch, but it was work. The film, entitled "Truelove", was a huge success and revitalized Dr. Waldmans acting career. In fact, to this day when people discuss Dr. Waldmans acting, they are always reminded of the now infamous line he brought to life in the film: "Crap!" To close this summary of a remarkable life so far, Dr Waldman would like to conclude with a few words he learned many years ago on that mountaintop in Tibet and that he still lives by today. He hopes others will find inspiration and meaning in them: "Your Momma's so fat she puts mayonnaise on aspirin" |
